  • Unable to start 3D Visualizer - Application failed to start

f you are unable to launch the 3D Visualizerand are getting an error message "Application failedto start because application configuration isincorrect", the issue is likely to be caused due tomissing DLLs. To rectify the issue, please install Visual Studio Service pack. QualNet v4.5 3Dvisualizer requires Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) version8.0.50727.762. If this is not installed, please download thisredistribution from location“http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=200B2FD9-AE1A-4A14-984D-389C36F85647&displaylang=en”,installt on your system and run 3DVisualizer again.Another solution can be to try opening"3dvisualizer.exe" in dependency walker. The dependencywalker is a tool bundled as part ofMicrosoft Platform SDK. This tool lists all DLLsrequired bythe program and reports any missing DLLs. To run this tool, please click on "Start->AllPrograms-> Microsoft Platform SDK> Tools->Depends". Copy any missing DLLs at"$QUALNET_HOME\bin" and ignore the error regarding DWMAPI.dll

  • Do I need separate client and server License File 4?

With the new version of QualNet 5.X, NCS updated the licensing mechanism. This means that
the old QualNet 4.X license will not work with QualNet 5.X and vice versa. The
floating license issued for QualNet 4.X requires 2 license files:
    1. The floating server license file: qualnet-commercial-floating--.lic
    2. The floating client license file: client-.lic
The floating server license file is placed on the server that is running qlm and the floating client license file is to be distributed to the end users. The floating client license file should be copied in QUALNET_HOME/license_dir directory.

For QualNet 5.X the system is different. In the case for floating license we only require 1 license file:

    1. The floating license file: qualnet-commercial-floating-.lic

The user needs to distribute this file to all the end users and also place the same file on the license server. With the new system we do not need 2 separate license files. We use the same license file as the client and server license files.
